Linda

"Linda", 4 x 4 inches, oil on board

"Linda" is the kissing cousin of my former painting titled "Julie".  She's not as colorful but she's just as lovable.  Like me, she loves wildflowers and spring.  This female Hummingbird was painted with a palette knife and some brushwork for good measure.

Benson

Benson 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board

SOLD!  Thank you.
This cute little Hummingbird has been given the name Benson and he's painted doing what all Hummingbirds live for...drinking nectar from pretty flowers.  Instead of taking care of my pretty spring flowers, I decided to paint Benson.  I guess tomorrow I'll need to get out to my garden.  Every green thumb knows gardens don't take care of themselves.

Gordon

4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board

Gordon is a bold Hummingbird because he wanted to be flying on an orange background.  I thought, no I can't do that, but he insisted, so I took out my artist licence.  He looks just peachy.

Preston Leonidas

10 x 10 inches, Oil on Board - Sold

This is my niece's American Strathshire Terrier named Preston Leonidas.  What a cool name.  Although Preston and I haven't met yet, I can tell from the photo references that he's a great dog.  I'm a big dog fan.

I really enjoyed painting Preston and like any portrait it's all about the eyes.  I think I captured the look most doggies are known for...alert and ready to listen to the owner.

Last Lilacs

6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board

Sold!  Thank you

Yesterday, my neighbor, Millie phoned to ask if I would like some lilacs to paint.  Mille has two mature lilac trees that produce beautiful fragrant blooms.  She has been faithfully giving me some for more than 15 seasons now.  Thank you Millie!

I like the push and pull of the brushwork and pigments on this painting

On another note, my wonderful daughter gave a surprise birthday party and it really was a surprise!  I so enjoyed seeing family that live a Sunday;s drive or longer, all gathered together.  The older one gets, the people who attend a birthday party are more valuable than any gift.

Red Tree Shack

5 x 5 inches, oil on board

Sold!  Thank you

There is very little that's cooler than a tree house to a kid on summer vacation.  I've had the pleasure of hanging out in one or two as a kid.  Of course, outdoor doll houses are cool, but tree houses trump any  house, fort or hideout on the ground.  Maybe I can get Neill to build me one when he retires.

Anna

4 x 4 inches Oil on Board with Palette Knife

Anna and I are happy we got her finished.  She was hard work!  What I like about this piece is the soft rose glow of the light and her delicate little feet!

Laureen and Lois

6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board

A beautiful spring day and of course, I have to paint more Hummingbirds!  I decided two is better than one and these two have a nectar feeder on their radar.
